That sanger is a good boat, but the malibu 23 is the bomb.

What throws a nicer shape than a super air?

ive rode behind mastercraft x stars, air nautiques, malibus all sorts but i think mastercraft takes it. i didnt like malibus and nautiques waves r so huge but sketchy. mastercraft x star or x 7 i like cuz u get control off the wake and also get huge air.

I have rode behind every big name boat and have owned an xstar now i have a super air team 210 04 nautique. the nautique by far is the best why do you think they use it in just about all of the wakeboard movies.

I prefer my Calabria Pro-V, but I would have to agree with Alex on 12/07/04. I've been behind several boats, and bought mine on recommenations and reviews. More air with less effort on my board and slalom, but vert wake is taking some gettin used to...too bad nobody skiis winters in Kern County, or I would learn faster.

What do you think about the Mastercraft X-80?

Sup Ryan,
I have not boarded behind the boat myself but I have seen video of wake and it is big. I dont like that is has a toilet on board, that kinda takes away from the boat. It is more like a wakeboarding yacht, the pics I have seen it in have been in salt water and I think that is how they are marketing it. It reminds me of the ocean racers like Cigarette boats and Scarabs. Just my oopinion, but if i got one for free i would not complain. Also as a side note, i live in northern california near sacramento and i am going wakeboarding this sunday, the water is mid fifties gonna be fun.

What is your opinion of the Sunscape 25 LSV (w/wake setter package) by Malibu? I am going to be using the boat in salt water. Between the X-80 and Sunscape 25 LSV what is a better boat?

I am upgrading my boat this year and was at the Vancouver boat show last night.
I need to choose - help me out!
My choices are -
a) Super Air Nautique - 210 - Team Edition
b) Mastercraft - X10
They are both sweet boats - but what's the deal. Has anyone owned both boats? What do you like or dislike about each boat? Has anyone ridden behind both boats? Likes and dislikes?
Help a brotha out! Thanks.

I had a 2001 X STAR for 2 years and put 450 hrs on it. i lived on the water. im not sure if my boat was in the shop more hrs than i used it. i had a ton of problems. i bought a nautique team 210 last summer 2004. i love it it handles so much better than my master craft. if u have any other questions let me know

I really don't know what boat i want. I am looking to either get a Malibu 25 LSV or a Mastercraft X-star. What boat is really the "better boat and brand?"
vbadminforum
02-16-2005, 04:00 PM
dont get the x star. i had one get either the malibu or the nautique . they both handle way better than the x star . and the wakes are better. plus you will use your boat more than its in the shop

It is far superior to any other boat on the market with the exception of the Enzo sv230. But from a cost stand point it is the best.

I did a lot of homework, and it looks like the mastercraft is a better boat. I ended up getting the X-Star.

Here is why I went with MasterCraft..
FACT 1 Malibu has 3 factories Ca, Tenn, Australia.
#1 boat manufacture in 03 or 04... Big deal 3 factories. They better make more boats than MC. Just Maybe they built a few extra just to beat them out. Think of that!
#2 The Wedge... Great idea how come none of the PRO RIDERS use it. It distorts the wake. 1200 lbs of extra pressure on the stern. Seen many a photo with the stern torn out of the boat. NO FOAM BOAT SINKS GOOD BYE !!!
#3 HOLLOW STINGERS with no steel backing any where in the boat. Stringers fill with water it does not evaporate. MC has a SERIOUS backing plate system. Every item in the boat has a backing plate pre-laminated in the deck or hull for support.
#4 RESALE RESALE RESALE A MasterCraft resale will yield a 20-30 less depreciation than a Malibu NADA does not lie... look it up for yourself. A boat that is 2-4 years old.. that?s 4-7K back in your pocket making up more than the difference in initial purchase price. NO SPIN ZONE HERE
#5 A MC is built to a more exact standard than a Malibu. Cutting a hole with a saw in the bottom of the boat leaving RAW exposed fiberglass so you don't need to align the shaft to the transmission...who came up with this ingenious idea? Why no HYDROPHONIC DAMPENING box the Malibu's V DRIVE BOATS...any takers
#6 What the heck do you need a 5 1/2 gauge for anyway. If you cant read a 3 1/2 in gauge you shouldn?t be driving a boat in the first place.
#7 GORILLA FINS.. Why doesn?t a Malibu turn without these things? Compare a X-2 with full ballast in a hard turn with hard throttle...the boat turns. A Wakesetter rocks and rolls even with the over sized fins. Those things are a PATCH job on something that does not work. Why are they screwed into the bottom vs. though bolted. Why are there 6 screws in the strut vs 8 on a MC that are though BOLTED...ANSWER IT COSTS LESS
#8 A Mastercraft is built to more exact standards. It does cost more to hand lay glass 100% in every part. It cost more to have a different deck on a open bow boat vs a closed bow. Did you know that a Malibu OPEN bow Response LX is the SAME hull...Malibu takes a stencil and cuts a HOLE in the closed bow boat to make it a OPEN bow then ads the interior. Less expensive yes!

Obviously we have a ton of mastercraft "believers". If all you ever hear is about one thing than how do you know any different. You will notice the Bonifay and Harrington are riding behind a ENZO in this month's photo shoot. Not a pickle fork mastercraft. Probably because they didn't feel like adding sand bags to the back plus full ballast just to get it to compete, but hey it's smooth on the double up!....because we care? The enzo throws a much better wake, it is a thousand times better looking has more room and engine that every marina will service not just a mastercraft dealer! But keep hanging on to the dream centurion is growing at a much faster rate for a reason. They are better built, better looking, priced appropriately, and most of all because they are independantly owned, not run by a bunch of shareholders sitting behind a desk thousnads of miles away from the lake. Take notes Centurion is doing it right and I will never buy a different boat! P.S. I will try not to sink your x with my enzo's real wake

sry guys the mastercraft does throw a good wake but its not near as wide as a Tige and u feel crampt. The Tige throws just as good as a wake and it doesnt need ballast. you can also fit more people in it comfortably. Yea the pros use X-stars in tourneys because they get them for free and it has a huge wake with 2000 lbs. of ballast. If you want a boat that throws an awesome wake and can hold a lot of friends comfortably get a Tige 24v,22v, or 22i. and you save about 50 thousand bucks.

Honestly i think all thesop manufactures are good. My family owns a 23LSV (Malbu) makes a tight partying boat. and an aweosme wake to ride behing. We bought it used. first month had few problems. the boat wasnt winterized right. But since then i am lovin it. I havent had the oppertunity to ride behing an X-star but have researched them alot. Sounds (and looks) like an awesome boat. Air nautiques awesome boats too. All three are used in many compitions. and anyone who sais one is a crummy boat is full of shit. there all good, minor differences in each make make some people like one another more or less. Although a small company based out of Oregon (my home town) called M3 has a new boat called the B-52 bomber. which looks tight in ads. with 2500 lbs of stock ballist, and very repituable name. I am really eager to ride behing one.
Just for reference how much ballist do you guys ride with? I ride with stock 1100 + wedge (equle to 1200) and a few people.

This year our family just picked a fully loaded 2003 Mastercraft X-2 with only 80hrs on it. We owned a 1996 Larson 19.5 footer and that is what we rode behing mostly last year. On two lucky occasions,I got the chance to ride behing an old 210 Air Nautique w/o ballast and a new supra 23 footer again w/o ballast. I loved the wake behind both boats and I had the two best sessions of the year behind them. What should I expect from the X-2 with 900lbs of ballast wake wise and should I expect mechanical problems. PLease reply.

I am new to the sport and I am interested in finding a boat that rides like a Cadillac on the rough water. I am willing to sacrifice some performance for the best ride for my family. We are coming out of an 20' I/O so any of the ski boats will have great handling to us. We are currently looking at the Tige' 22ve or 24ve. Any help on this would be wonderful.

Seeing as how I have recently researched the various boats I figured I would throw my 2 cents in. Obviously the best boat if money is no object is the Mastercraft X Star. Now with that said I personally don't have 70k to throw at a wakeboard boat. I currently own an X-9 Direct drive. This boat looks great and is solid for all around, but leaves something to be desired as far as wake potential goes unless you have all 600 lbs. of ballast and 8 people in the boat. I have been looking at the all new Mastercraft X2. The New 06 X2 has the pickle fork front, much larger wake and comes with about 800 lbs of ballast stock. I am hoping it will ramp up the wake like an X Star. Will test drive one this weekend. FYI, the X-Star wake is huge and ramps up very steep. It will launch even a big guy like me. Overall the fit and finish on the Mcrafts seem to be a little nicer than the Malibu's. Mastercraft charges for this extra (mcraft is about 5-7 k more than its comparable Malibu model). The new 06 Malibu Wakesetter VLX looks to be pretty hot though. V drives are always the way to go for Max wake as they dump more weight on the stern of the boat. I really like the new power wedge though. No more reaching through the stupid hole in the platform to raise and lower it. Also 1000 lbs of ballast is sweet. X-2's now have ballast gauges just like the Malibu's. Ultimately you get what you pay for. If you want resale stick with a Mastercraft. You will get less boat but it will be more valuable down the line. Malibu gives you more boat at a better price, but you will lose boat equity. It's a trade off. X-Star if you are rich, X-2 if 58k doesn't shake you. Malibu VLX or their 23 model if you have alot of friends and wanna save some dough. VLX can be had for about 50-52k decked out.
